Polishes like this are why I adore Mode Cosmetics. Stunning, intensely pigmented polish for stupidly cheap.

Review and swatches: Mode Cosmetics Beat the Blah
I apologise in advance - what I thought was going to be a straightforward swatching session of a neutral, work-safe polish turned into one of those colour-accuracy nightmares.

Swatches: Mode Cosmetics Face Gone Purple
Don't ask me what's up with this name because I don't bloody know. I thought it was a weird typo when I saw it, but then I checked a few other bottles and they were all the same! What I do know is that when I saw this, I was reminded of Illamasqua's Velocity. I don't have it to compare them, but it's similar enough to squash my lemming for a polish that has been discontinued.

Swatches: Mode Cosmetics Vicious Venom
Because Mode is such a small, budget brand, it's hard to keep up with the new releases unless you're a regular visitor of one of their stockists - and I'm not! As such, getting ahold of their glitters was a bit of a quest for me. I saw this colour twice before I actually purchased it, and it sat in my bathroom cupboard for several weeks before trying it. I knew it was going to be a bitch to remove, so I waited until I got Picture Polish revolution in the mail before I used it.

NotD: Grey gradient and glitter!
Felt like doing something a bit more understated with my nails this time around. The weather is doing its usual weirdness - autumn in Australia is very much like spring, in one week you'll have a cold and drizzly day followed by a warm and sunny one! I decided to do something a bit wintry.

NotD: Lodestone Skittles
I've been checking out a lot of nail blogs lately for inspiration, and decided to try a glitter gradient manicure - over skittles!

Orly swatches, part 1
Seen here in my Orly haul post, now some swatches!
Scarlet is a bold red with gold shimmer in the bottle.
On the nail it becomes a stunning, metallic red, unfortunately with no gold shimmer. It's still an incredibly beautiful polish, though. This is two coats.
Walk Down the Aisle is a mint green jelly with superfine minty/aqua shimmer.
Three coats, probably not going to become opaque any time soon! So I decided to put it over Mode Cool As, which is a bright mint creme. I can't believe I haven't blogged this before, it's one of my favourite colours! Two coats here.
Then with a coat of Walk Down the Aisle over the top.
The shimmer is really subtle and pretty. I'll definitely have to try this over some other colours.
That's all for now, I'll do the other three sometime this week.

Speck-tacular Runway (NotD)
Pardon the tipwear, this is now a few days old. Runway from Mode Cosmetics with a thick coat of Australis Speck-tacular. Runway is a little darker and bluer in these photos than it is in real life.
I was originally going to put Runway under a coat of China Glaze Wireless (which is an awesome holo top coat) but my bottle is missing :( I might have to bite the bullet and purchase a replacement soon, it's been a week or so and it hasn't turned up!

Jaded on the Runway (NotD)
More Mode polishes! I tried out Runway for the first time, which is a deep teal creme, INSANELY gorgeous and opaque in one coat. Me being me of course, I couldn't leave it alone, so I layered Jaded over the top which is a sheer green-y shimmer, which added a grass green shimmer to it. I love this combo so much.
The best thing about this mani was how fast it was; because both polishes applied so smoothly, it was literally base coat, polish 1, polish 2, top coat and DONE. Time constraints are my worst enemy at the moment :(
