Review and swatches: Geek Chic Cosmetics eyeshadows!

For my birthday (several months ago now, haha) a friend gave me a ThinkGeek voucher. Sadly for us Australians, a ThinkGeek purchase is a special occasion only deal, or a group purchase, because the only shipping options they do are expedited international. It's stupidly fast and also stupidly expensive. On a whim at the end of May, I visited their website and wishfully filled my cart with Geek Chic eyeshadows - they had a small range, but they had two of the colours I REALLY wanted. Imagine my surprise and delight when I checked the shipping options and saw they'd added economy for international shipping! Instead of paying $40+ to get my order within the week, I could pay $9 and wait a bit longer! So I got 3 Geek Chic eyeshadows and a little heart hand warmer for stupidly cheap, since my gift certificate covered nearly everything.
Excuse the glitter on the bottom jar!

As I did not actually order from Geek Chic Cosmetics themselves, obviously I won't be making any statements about their customer service, packaging etc. You're just here for the swatches anyway, I know! :P taken in a mix of artificial and indirect light, all over Pixie Epoxy.

Sexy In Suspenders "pale fawny satin with a bright, unlikely blue highlight and choc full of blue and purple sparkles"

Over Pixie Epoxy this is a strong lavender iridescence over a soft beige base.Very light and pretty!

Inevitable Betrayal "reflective golden-toned dinosaury-green."

Soft, borderline olive, mossy green. If you'd like to try green but are afraid of anything too dark/lime/neon, this is a really gorgeous colour. Muted and faintly metallic.

All the Rage "soft brown with hints of green and blue highlights"

This pulls really pink-y, copper-y on me. I don't see any green or blue highlights. It's definitely going to be a nice soft, flattering lid shade for me.

Whilst I didn't get anything crazy exciting, the shadows are really gorgeous and wearable. I can see myself reaching for these often for work looks. Geek Chic have a whole bunch of really freaking cool themes for their collections - The Princess Bride, Supernatural, Mass Effect, Farscape, Firefly. ARGH I WANT IT ALL. I'd like to try some brights next. Maybe even some of their lip products.

Any of the Geek Chic products catch your eye? Or any recommendations to share?

  1. My only specific recommendation is to order directly from Geek Chic next time - their shipping is fast, and very reasonable!
Apart from their eyeshadows, I've also got a couple of their solid perfumes, which are lovely, and their Big Daddy lip balm that smells EXACTLY like Fantales.

    1. I'm pretty sure they ship worldwide! It would be a bit silly for them not to ship to the UK when they ship to Australia, lol.

  3. The do ship internationally, and I rocked Captain Tightpants (think shimmery orange copper)yesterday. I love Makeup Chic's stuff...
